Jimmy Buffett passed away last year on September 1. However, his legacy of great music, good times, and chill vibes will live on. Earlier this year Florida dubbed August 30 Jimmy Buffett Day. However, fans won’t have to pack up and travel to the Sunshine State to celebrate. All Margaritaville locations will be celebrating the newly christened holiday with music, charity, and more.

Jimmy Buffett Day Offers Good Times for a Good Cause
Jimmy Buffett Day will offer fans several ways to give money to good causes. For instance, the celebration in Fort Myers Beach, Florida will include a supply drive for the local elementary school. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds of Pacifico Beer sales will go to Calusa Waterkeepers. A portion of room packages and specialty drink sales will go to FMB Strong.
On a wider scope, a portion of Jimmy Buffett Day merchandise sales will go to Singing for Change.
Singing for Change
Started by Jimmy Buffett, Singing for Change raises money to fund organizations that are doing good things for people and communities. According to the website, the foundation funds “organizations that inspire personal growth, community integration, and the enhanced awareness that collectively, people can bring about positive change.”
The site states, “We support nonprofit organizations, large and small that provide compelling opportunities for individuals to discover their power to make a difference. The foundation promotes work on the forefront of social change—helping people and communities become smarter, safer, stronger, healthier, and whole.”
