While known as a top singer in country music, Cody Johnson started his career in the spotlight at a young age. Gaining help from his father, the country singer learned how to play music at 12 years old. And performing at his school and some local bars, Johnson also explored a life as a bull rider. It wasn’t until he found himself working for the prison system that he decided to commit to music full-time. And it seems to have worked out given that he released nine studio albums and holds numerous awards. But besides loving his time on stage, the country singer recently revealed the one show that offered him a spot.

Appearing on Audacy’s Friday Night Takeover, Johnson revealed he and Taylor Sheridan worked on the idea of having him be part of the hit series Yellowstone. Sadly, given his career on stage, the two never could work out the schedule. “We’ve tried a couple of times [to appear on Yellowstone] and my schedule is too busy to put aside the time.” Although not able to make it work, Johnson insisted that their collaboration wasn’t over. He added, “We’re looking ahead to the future. There’s a few movie things where I’m like, ‘Look, if you guys give me the notice I can make this happen.”
Cody Johnson Continues To Tour And Explore Hollywood Career
Premiering back in 2018, Yellowstone grew a massive following as stars like Kevin Costner brought the Western drama to life. Besides gaining high praise from fans, the show’s success allowed prequel series like 1883 and 1923 to be greenlit. Although a hit show, Sheridan once discussed trying to get the show off the ground. Back before Paramount Network picked the show up, the creator tried to pitch it to HBO. Shockingly, they decided to pass on the project that went on to encompass the turbulent life of a Montana rancher.
As for Johnson, he continues to entertain fans all over the country. Thanks to his 2023 album Leather, the country singer hit the road for a North American tour. And while loving his time on stage, it appears that Johnson might be looking to add his name to the silver screen.
