The War and Treaty, Maren Morris, Drive-By Truckers, and more will perform during the celebration. Additional acts include Chuck Leavell of the Allman Brothers Band, Eric Church, GROUPLOVE, and D-Nice. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus will also perform, and Sean Penn, Killer Mike, and Dale Murphy will make appearances.

“Whether it was on his record player, on the campaign trail, or on the White House lawn, music has been — and continues to be — a source of joy, comfort, and inspiration for my grandfather,” said Jason Carter, the former president’s grandson and chair of the Carter Center Board of Trustees, said in a statement, per Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Carter Center Plans Musical Celebration for Jimmy Carter’s 100th Birthday

“I can think of no better way to celebrate him and his 100th birthday than a night of music,” the statement continued. President Carter famously befriended many musicians in his life, especially during his campaign trail when the Allman Brothers Band “rallied to his message of change, honesty, and character,” according to the Carter Center’s statement.

Chuck Leavell also contributed to the statement. “Back when Jimmy Carter was running for president, the Allman Brothers played concerts for his campaign because we believed in his vision for hope and change for America,” he wrote. “We could never have imagined what a positive impact he would have on the entire world. It’s an honor to play at his 100th birthday and celebrate a man whose legacy will surely continue to inspire future generations.”

Tickets for the historic event are $100, in honor of Jimmy Carter turning 100. The tickets go on sale on August 5, and the event takes place on September 17 in Atlanta.
