Celine Dion took to the Eiffel Tower last week to close out the Olympics Opening Ceremony, marking her first performance in four years after the pandemic and Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis forced her to cancel her tour. Now, with this triumphant performance of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne A L’Amour,” Dion is once again climbing the charts.

The 2008 compilation album My Love—The Essential Collection sits on the Official U.K. Top 100 Albums chart at No. 68. It has spent 137 weeks on the chart after first debuting in November 2008, peaking at No. 5 and spending a total of 18 weeks in the Top 40.
Meanwhile, on the midweek update list of the Top 100 Albums chart, My Love initially came in at No. 39, but has since moved up to No. 29. It’s bracketed by Taylor Swift with Midnights below and Reputation above.
Celine Dion has been suffering from Stiff Person Syndrome since her diagnosis in 2022, and recently released the documentary I Am: Celine Dion. The doc revealed her struggles and triumphs in turn, bringing a new perspective to her illness. The soundtrack to I Am: Celine Dion also hit the Billboard charts, landing at No. 15 on the Soundtrack Chart.
Celine Dion Pens Heartfelt Message Following Olympic Opening Ceremony Performance
Following her performance at the Opening Ceremony, Celine Dion released a heartfelt statement thanking the Olympics and praising the athletes. She posted the message on Instagram alongside alongside a photo of herself from the night.
“I’m honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities!” she began. “Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.”
Dion then took a moment to praise the athletes for their hard work. “All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you! You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you!”
