Besides selling over 143 million records worldwide, Perry is also a mother to her three-year-old daughter Daisy. With the singer releasing her last album, Smile, back in 2020, it seemed Perry needed a little inspiration when getting back into the swing of things. Speaking with The Sun, she revealed how Daisy helped her. “It is funny how sometimes you’re looking for your soulmate in a partner. It could be a dog, your mum, your best friend, your cat?.?.?.?but for me it came in the form of Daisy. I wrote Lifetimes about her. Every night before we go to sleep I say, ‘I love you’, and then I ask, ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’ and she says, ‘Yes’.”

Katy Perry Explains The Love She Was Missing In Her Life

While knowing the sting of heartbreak, Perry insisted that love eventually found her when she met Daisy for the first time. “The love I was missing, every mountain I climbed looking for this view, all this love. It came to me when she entered my life. Maybe one day you will go on this journey but you will find this love, it does exist and it will exist for you.”

As for her recent song “Woman’s World”, Perry watched the music video bring in over 11 million views with many praising the singer. But at the same time, many fans criticized the themes of the video for focusing on the “male gaze.”

Not letting the criticism get to her, Perry continues to prepare for her upcoming album, 143, releasing on September 20. And her next song, “Lifetimes”, will hit the airwaves on August 9th.
