For over 40 years, Celine Dion proved her musical talents as she showcased her love for power ballads. Producing numerous iconic songs over the years, the singer also performed on some of the world’s biggest stages. But her dazzling career in the spotlight came crashing down when she revealed she suffered from stiff person syndrome. Constantly fighting spasms due to the illness, Dion decided to take a step back. That was until the Olympics called. And with her producing yet another iconic performance, the legendary singer shared a heartfelt message on social media.

Posting an image of herself flashing the heart symbol, Dion took a moment to thank Paris for having her perform during the opening ceremony. “I’m honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities! Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.”

Not wanting to just make the post about her, Dion also praised the athletes who hope to make history over the next few weeks. “All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you! You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you!”
Gaining over two million likes, Dion was showered with love from fans all over the world. Comments included, “Our Queen is back!!! It’s amazing!!! I’m so happy. I was crying of happiness! God bless you!” Another person added, “Tears were flowing all over the world during and after your performance, We were all joyous to see you and hear you, beautiful Celine! So grateful you are on your road to full recovery. I love you always and send you my heart.”
While the future is unclear if Dion will continue to take the stage, her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games is sure to be one of the most historic moments in Olympic history.
