While selling over 50 million albums worldwide and gaining a spot in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Nickelback was also ranked among the most successful rock groups by Billboard. Although watching the band gain international fame, members like Chad Kroeger watched as Nickelback received a great deal of backlash over their songs and lyrics. Not letting the naysayers get in their way, the band continues to perform. And recently, Kroeger decided to defend not Nickelback, but the new film Deadpool & Wolverine from online trolls.

Spending the last several months promoting the movie, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman toured the world. And while many comic book fans are excited to see the film, Nickelback wanted to make sure the critics know their place. In the video, featured below, Nickelback hid their identity by wearing Deadpool and Wolverine masks. But that only lasted so long as Kroeger said, “We’re Nickelback, experts in navigating irrational hate in the face of tremendous success. We have an important preemptive message for anyone thinking of criticizing the film Deadpool & Wolverine or Ryan Reynolds.”

Fans Side With Nickelback As ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Look Dominate Box Office
Wanting to show fans just how successful the Deadpool franchise is, Kroeger decided to list a few of the film’s accomplishments, which featured grossing over $1.5 billion and gaining numerous awards. With Deadpool receiving high praise from the MTV Movie & TV Awards and Fthe Critics Choice Awards, Kroeger decided to turn his eyes to Reynolds. With a little wordplay and a picture of Reynolds, he insisted, “As for Mr. Ryan Reynolds, just look at this photograph. That is a beautiful Canadian man right there.”
Although wanting to protect Reynolds and Jackman from backlash, it seems there might not be any as fans loved the video. “Omg I was waiting for this. I can’t wait!! If you don’t like Ryan Reynolds that’s your problem! You are missing out! I love you @Nickelback.” Another comment read, “You guys are amazing and I will always rock out to your music!!”
