Miranda Lambert has shared that her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, is a huge fan of her newest single, “Dammit Randy.” Additionally, he had a hand in making it happen, as well as its rising success.

While McLoughlin has always been supportive of Lambert’s career—with the former NYPD officer essentially becoming a house husband and traveling with Lambert on tour—he’s apparently never been a part of the creative processes that go into his wife’s job. Until now, that is.
Lambert recently shared a video on Instagram detailing the writing and recording process of “Dammit Randy,” sharing that she “wrote [it] with Jon Randall and my husband Brendan.” Lambert is a frequent collaborator with Randall, but hadn’t yet written a song with her husband. She added, “[Brendan] got a cut on the record, so he will not shut up about it which is very funny.”
Miranda Lambert Details Making of “Dammit Randy” and Husband’s Contribution
Miranda Lambert continued in the video, sharing that there are plans for a new album. “We were talking about making this new album with a new record label family, with Big Loud and with Republic, and we were going to the studio the very next day to start the record,” she said. “Jon and I were doing pre-production at the house in Austin, having some tequila, and we started talking about how excited we were to have a new family that was excited about the music and all about the art.”
So, how did the song get the name “Dammit Randy” anyway? Lambert explained that, too. “Me and Jon have a saying that we’ll say ‘dammit Randy,’ because his name is actually Randy, she explained, adding, “and we were talking about the journey from going from a place where you didn’t feel super supported to where you did. So, ‘Dammit Randy’ was born and the rest is history.”
While she didn’t share specifically what McLoughlin penned on the song, fans still praised the accomplishment and shared their love for the recent single.
“I wouldn’t shut up about it either if i got to write a song with ML,” one fan wrote in the comments. Another wrote, “I thought y’all were a power couple before but now y’all write together?”
