Watch Miranda Lambert Debut “Dammit Randy” for “Texas Family” Crowd

Miranda Lambert is returning to her roots. The “Mama’s Broken Heart” singer returned to her home state of Texas to record her forthcoming ninth studio album. She has promised some “very country” material, and the fiery first single “Wranglers” certainly delivered. Last week, Lambert dropped “Dammit Randy,” the follow-up single to “Wranglers.” And where better to sing the track live for the first time than the Lone Star State?

Miranda Lambert Has Texas Crowd Screaming, “Dammit Randy”

Miranda Lambert premiered her latest track during a June 29 show at the Momentum Bank Ballpark in Midland, Texas. The “Kerosene” singer shared a video to her social media Monday (July 1.)

“Got to do this for the 1st time live with my Texas family this weekend,” Lambert wrote in the caption. “Midland, y’all were already screaming DAMMIT RANDY so loud. Love y’all.”

No one does vengeful breakup anthems better than Miranda Lambert. While “Dammit Randy” is about the end of a relationship, the lyrics take a more grown-up approach to heartbreak: Yeah, now that I made it to other side / I hope you’re countin’ singles in your double wide / Smokin’ cigarettes like they’re goin’ out of style / Turnin’ me up on your radio dial / You gave up ’til the very last minute / Now that I’m gone, I’ve got your attention.

Recently, Lambert left Sony after 20 years to sign a record deal with Republic and Big Loud Records. ACM’s nine-time Female Vocalist of the Year said “Dammit Randy” was born from that move.

“We were talking about how excited we were to be starting this journey with a new label family…and how supported we felt by them,” Lambert said. “Which turned into chatting about situations where you might not feel so supported by someone — in this case, an unappreciative Randy. So, this one’s for anyone with a Randy they need to move on from.”
