Hawaiian Singer-Songwriter Not a Hit With Some Viewers of "The Voice"

Gabriel Goes, a singer-songwriter from Hawaii, did not exactly wow some social media users during his blind audition of Sublime’s “What I Got” on tonight’s episode of “The Voice” season 25.

I’d love to watch him surf,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I just don’t need to hear him sing.”

Another X user agreed: “Best thing about HawaiianKen is his shoes.”

Still, Goes made it and is joining Team Chance. One X user did praise his “good breath support” and “good vibes.”

“Gabriel Goes had me smiling with his energy behind the stand,” the user wrote. “On guitar, he kept a good pocket and spit out those lyrics like he was rapping.”

Much to viewers’ chagrin, last night’s Season 25 premiere ended before viewers could see which coach snagged OK3.

The Oklahoma City pop trio earned a coveted four-chair swivel with their sassy cover of Meghan Trainor’s “Made You Look.”

Sierra Sikes, Kenna Fields and Courtney Hooker ultimately chose coach John Legend, becoming the EGOT winner’s first contestants.

Sadly, no chairs turned for 36-year-old Ashley Haynes after the Washington, D.C. native performed Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best.”

So it seems fitting that the country-pop duo were the only ones to turn their chairs for Argast, a 30-year-old business graduate from Plainfield, Illinois.

Coach Reba McEntire apologized for not swiveling her chair during the blind audition.

“You’re gonna have such a good time with these two over here,” McEntire told Argast. “They are knowledgeable, they are such great singers, songwriters.”

In anticipation of “The Voice” season 25 premiere, the popular NBC show’s official account posted a video of the first-ever “double chair” for debut coaches Dan + Shay.

“I’m honored to be sitting in this iconic red chair, and we got two of ’em,” Dan Smyers said.

The GRAMMY-winning country-pop duo will join returning coaches Reba McEntire, Chance the Rapper and John Legend. Dan + Shay are replacing Season 24 winner Niall Horan, who was unable to return due to touring conflicts.
