Beginning on March 7th, Oberst will host a weekly special program with songs from across his rich and very broad discography, along with special guests and a rotating group of bands. Presale tickets for these limited events are available now through Ticketmaster. General onsale begins on Friday, November 17 at 10:00 local time.

In an Instagram announcement of the events, Oberst noted that the residency was a long time coming. “I am very excited about these residencies,” said Oberst, “This is something that me and my booking agent Eric have talked about for years but the timing was never quite right and now the stars have finally aligned and [I] couldn’t be happier.”

Conor Oberst is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the American indie rock band Bright Eyes. Bright Eyes is known for being one of the most pivotal bands that shaped the landscape of alternative folk-rock in the early 2000s. Their most recent album Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was was released in 2020 to critical acclaim for its beautiful orchestration and notable change in atmosphere.

Oberst is also a solo artist with a broad number of projects under his belt, and his prolific solo career showcases a blend of poetic storytelling and political commentary. Of his solo projects, Oberst’s 2008 self-titled album ranked at #15 and his 2014 studio album Upside Down Mountain ranked at #19 on the Billboard 200, respectively. With a career spanning decades, Oberst’s influence on contemporary folk remains profound and enduring.

At the upcoming LA and NYC residencies, Oberst will perform a mix of old and new musical material along with a number of musical guests. Actual supporting acts for Oberst’s residency shows have not been announced and are likely going to be surprise guests for each show. According to the original announcement, each show will feature a different musical act in addition to Oberst.

“It will be a lot of work putting together a different band and set every week but it’s a challenge I think will be rewarding,” said Oberst in the above-mentioned Instagram announcement, “Luckily I have lived in both New York City and Los Angeles off and on for many years and so I have a lot of musician friends to help me out. It will be an experiment for sure. Looking forward to it. Not completely sure how it will all turn out but that is the best part about it.”

Presale tickets are currently live via Ticketmaster for all of the upcoming residency dates. Seats will not last long for these events, which are already making waves among fans of Bright Eye and Oberst online. If you follow Oberst and already received your passcode via email, get your presale tickets from Ticketmaster as soon as possible! If you missed the presale email, tickets will still go on sale to the general public on November 17.
