Bandmates and twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso teamed up with celebrated songwriter, artist, and producer John Feldmann to craft “Perfect.” The declarative track offers a modernized, elevated version of the duo’s early, infectious pop-rock sound. Blink-182 member Travis Barker steps in as drummer on the track, crafting a blazing pulsating beat that compliments The Veronicas’ fierce vocals.
No one makes it out alive
There’s no point in your pretty lies
F— designer, start a riot
Perfect’s going outta style
“‘Perfect’ is a love letter to our younger and current selves,” the band shared of the song in a statement. “Perfection has a different meaning for everyone. Social media has changed how we interact with the world. Perception versus reality is rewarded and condemned. From what people wear to who they date. It’s like a magnifying glass.
“We just want to remind everyone to empower themselves and free their minds,” they added. “We all die in the end; we have to live with and love ourselves fiercely first and foremost. On our deathbeds, the only opinion that will matter on how you’ve lived will be your own.”
Due out in early 2024, GOTHIC SUMMER marks the act’s first full-length release since inking a record deal with Big Noise. The LP is their first since their fifth album, Human, arrived in 2021. After parting ways with Sony Music last year, both sisters pivoted their focus to crafting their own solo projects.
Over the weekend, The Veronicas teased their upcoming batch of new music during two sets at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas. Although their performance schedule includes performances in Australia and New Zealand through the remainder of the year, fans can expect additional U.S. tour dates supporting GOTHIC SUMMER to come in early 2024.
