Blackpink has released a new song. On Wednesday (August 23), the K-pop group of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa dropped another bop with “The Girls.” The song is available in their new video game, Blackpink the Game and features a hip-hop-leaning beat that, matched with their voices, creates a larger-than-life feeling.

The lyrics ooze with confidence as the foursome asserts in the hook, Don’t mess with the girls. The first verse sees Jennie and Lisa trading lines about fancy cars, big parties, and songs racing up the charts (they also nod to their band name with the line, see the black rims/Pink headlights.) The second verse finds Lisa showing off her fast-paced rap skills as she spits, BP on repeat / We heat like tiki, Waikiki / Really believe you can beat me? They all come together on the chorus chanting, Live fast / We do it like that/And we don’t lie / We born to be mad / Better come right or never come back / Don’t mess with the girls.

Blackpink fans were the first to hear the song during an online celebration party for members of their fan club. “The choreography is cute,” they all agree. “I guess I’m in charge of charisma,” jokes Rosé. “I’m in a good mood right now,” adds Jisoo.
“The Girls” is the follow-up single to “Ready for Love,” which was released as a promotional single in July 2022. Prior to that, they dropped “Sour Candy,” featuring Lady Gaga, which reached No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. Blackpink has previously topped the charts in their native South Korea with “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” “How You Like That,” “Pink Venom” and “Shut Down.” In the U.S., they also had a hit with “Ice Cream,” featuring Selena Gomez.
Blackpink is currently on the final leg of the 2023 Born Pink World Tour, which concludes with two shows in Seoul, South Korea, on September 16 and 17.
