In three weeks, Ohio rapper Trippie Redd will release his brand new studio album A Love Letter to You 5. Confirming its Aug. 4 release date on Friday (July 14), along with its majestic cover art, Redd is not only prepping to put out an LP that he has been teasing for years, but will also make the first addition to his A Love Letter to You project series since November 2019.

ALLTY5 will arrive just over six months after the release of his January LP Mansion Musik, which consisted of mainly a forceful, synth-heavy sound that youthful hip-hop circles tend to refer to as “rage music.” Boasting guest appearances from Travis Scott, Future, Lil Baby, Juice WRLD, and more, Mansion Musik would peak at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. However, during an August 2022 interview with the YouTube page Montreality, Redd explained that he will not experiment with his sound on ALLTY5 as he did on Mansion Musik.
“A Love Letter to You 5 is gonna be, if not the best body of music I’ve ever did, one of them, for sure,” he said. “This is the last one. This the last A Love Letter to You. I done put my all into it. I’ve been working on this for like, three to four years. Dropping projects, but still having music tucked to the side for this project… Nothing is experimental. I’m not trying to be experimental with this project. I’m really just tryin’ to, you know, just drop straight Trippie Redd hits.”
Redd doubled down on this stance in a tweet from mid-June, just before the release of ALLTY5‘s lead single “Took My Breath Away,” featuring R&B up-and-comer and Redd’s girlfriend Skye Morales.
“I’m versatile. I blew up off of that alone. Judge me for how I look, talk, smoke, breathe, but (your) fav artist probably ain’t on my level sonically,” he wrote. “I took a break from real music to make rage music, it was fun but now it’s time.”
While the full track list for ALLTY5 has yet to be made available, Redd has already confirmed that he will accompany this release with a nationwide tour. Supported by opening acts like Chicago rapper Lucki and San Diego alternative artist Jean Dawson, the tour is set to begin on Aug. 31 and end on Oct. 9.
