Shinedown is offering a reimagined version of their current hit single, “A Symptom Of Being Human.”

The original version of the song is largely acoustic, with hints of cinematic instrumentation that allow the lyrics to take center stage. Lead singer Brent Smith’s stunning voice shines as he sings lyrics that speak to those who feel like outsiders.
In the newly released “A Symptom Of Being Human (Pop Remix),” the integrity of the song’s message remains. The band combines the cinematic and guitar elements of the original with an ear-friendly beat as Smith sings with conviction, I’ve never been the favorite/Thought I’d seen it all/’Til I got my invitation to the lunatic ball/And my friends are comin’ too/How about you?/Don’t worry, it’s all just a symptom of being human.
“It’s a song about taking a breath and understanding we all are going to face obstacles in life, but you have to embrace the trials and tribulations,” Smith explains to People. “We’ve had people say that ‘A Symptom of Being Human’ is like a security blanket. If they feel panicky or nervous or anxious, they’ll literally put the song on, and it calms them down. That’s the beauty of music.”
As outspoken advocates for mental health, Shinedown partnered with The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to donate $1 from every ticket sold to their spring 2023 The Revolutions Live Tour to the voluntary health organization that “gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death,” as stated on AFSP’s website.
“A Symptom of Being Human” is featured on Shinedown’s 2022 album, Planet Zero, which topped the Billboard Top Alternative Albums, Top Hard Rock Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. Smith also says that a piano version and acoustic version of “Human” are on the way.
