2. Death Valley Girls

Over the past few months, the Los Angeles-born rock group has been garnering more and more attention thanks to its latest release, Islands in the Sky, and its hit single, “Magic Powers.” Both of which have been climbing up the college radio charts. 3. Son Rompe Pera

A dynamic live band with so many moving parts, you might think Son Rompe Pera is a Swiss watch. But no, they’re a Mexican fusion band boasting several family members and enough energy to power whatever city they land in on their seemingly never-ending tour dates. Check out the group, which plays a blend of cumbia and punk, live below.

4. Deep Sea Diver

The Seattle-born rock band Deep Sea Diver had quite the year when it released its latest LP, Impossible Weight. The music video for the lead single, “Impossible Weight,” also features the beloved indie rocker Sharon Van Etten. But it’s Deep Sea Diver, which boasts frontwoman Jennifer Dobson, with all her vocal and six-string prowess, that will leave you wondering: how can I get more of this?

5. Natalie Bergman

While not technically a band, Natalie Bergman certainly plays with one. And she’s certainly someone you should know if you don’t already. Her doo-wop proto-rock music is sublime. It slinks and sticks in your mind and gets your heart moving, too. Check out her story and her music below.
