Epic President Charlie Walk will leave behind his position at the end of the month with no official future plans announced, according to Billboard sources.
Walk started working in 1990 as VP of creative marketing and promotion for Columbia Records Group and later took over Epic in 2005. While he controlled Epic he encountered huge hits from artists such as Shakira, Sean Kingston, The Fray, Sara Bareilles and Natasha Bedingfield.
But the label’s market share has experienced a downfall from 4.22% of current albums for the year ending in 2005 to 1.58% for the current year, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
As for the future plans for Walk, there are no official projects revealed but sources tell R&R Walk plans to stay in the entertainment business and has many television projects in the works including a pilot with Ryan Seacrest. Official plans are expected to be revealed in January.
