Four talented musicians plus two microphones in a living room equals the newest, homegrown collaboration from over the pond, The Accidental. Sam Genders (Tunng), Stephen Cracknell (The Memory Band), Hannah Caughlin (The Bicycle Thieves), and Liam Bailey come together to form a delightfully raw, acoustic debut album, There Were Wolves. While cello, violin and guitar are present throughout most of the compilation, they rely heavily on the percussion of their hands and their own voices as core instruments. Deep-rooted lyrics cover the tracks and traces of harp (“Slice Open the Day”) and dulcimer (“Jaw of Whale” and “The Killing Floor”), add additional magic. Wolves maintains a very relaxed pace, but there is creativity at every juncture.
