September 13 marks the release of St. Vincent’s Strange Mercy, the follow-up to 2009’s Actor. Released through 4AD, the 11-track LP features an array of diversified guitars, unique arrangements, and Annie Clark’s beguiling vocals. The Dallas, TX chanteuse recorded in her hometown at Elmwood Studios with producer John Congleton.

Since Actor, Clark has collaborated with the likes of Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and David Byrne. On Strange Mercy, Clark punches up her indie craft with R&B horns (“Cruel”) and more grit than usual (“Cheerleader”). She again brings with her a slew of talent, including Beck keyboardist/musical director Brian LeBarton, Mackenzie Smith of Midlake on drums, and Grammy Award-winning musician and producer Bobby Sparks contributing on Clavinet, Arp, mini Moog and Wurlitzer.
