The Low Anthem (who we profile in our upcoming May/June issue) are the latest band to take place in The A.V. Club’s Undercover series, adding their unique instrumental approach to Wilco’s Summerteeth anthem “Shot In The Arm,” in which a tuned saw and a clarinet are employed. The Emmylou Harris-approved Rhode Island indie band give the song a slightly more chillaxed, ambient feel, but are still reverent of their forebears: “Jeff studied all of Glenn Kotche’s drum beats rigorously for this session,” jokes band frontman Ben Knox Miller.
