Whether it’s a sign of the music industry’s inevitable collapse, or just Scarlett Johansson 2.0, The New York Post is reporting that actress Gwyneth Paltrow is in talks to with Atlantic Records to join their roster as a recording artist.
UPDATE: Paltrow has signed to Atlantic for a deal reportedly worth $900,000.
Sources say that her album would be country music-oriented, in fitting with her star turn in Country Strong (we bet she regrets those veiled jokes at Country Strong‘s expense on SNL now).
Details are scarce, but it’s not a stretch to imagine Paltrow’s husband, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, signing on for duet, as well as Paltrow’s buddies Cee-Lo Green and Country Strong co-star Tim McGraw. And while we’re at it, how about friends of the family Jay-Z and Beyonce, and maybe even Charlie Sheen for good measure? Now that would be one hell of a record.
Paltrow recently appeared on Glee, and performed on the Grammy and CMA Awards. She previously had a hit single with Huey Lewis in 2000 with “Cruisin.”
