Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher was attacked onstage during a Toronto performance Sunday night at Canada’s V Festival. As the band played “Morning Glory,” title track from their 1995 release (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, a man made his way onto the stage and proceeded to knock a very surprised Gallagher to the ground, guitar and all.

Upon speaking with eyewitnesses of the attack, it was determined that Gallagher’s attacker, later confirmed to be named Daniel Sullivan, likely came from underneath the stage rather than from the audience. One fan explained what he saw, saying “Members of Stereophonics were watching on the left and the right was mainly crew. In fact, when the [Sullivan] first appeared I thought he was a guitar tech.”

“Noel was soloing when the guy bounded over to him and pushed him in the back. He just fell to his knees and dropped his guitar which made a big thud on the PA. The guy then tried to take a swipe at Liam Galllagher before Oasis’ security grappled the man and pulled him away.”

After taking a few moments to recover from the incident’s shock, Oasis decided that the show must go on and finished their set. Noel, however, left the stage early, rightfully unable to shake the anger of the night’s earlier events. Upon leaving the show, he visited a local hospital where he was checked for potential rib and ligament damage.

So far there is no word on why the attack occurred, but Sullivan was taken into custody following the show. See what happened for yourself here.
