Bow wow wow, yippee-oh yippee-ay. On Friday night, Snoop Dogg’s tour bus rolled into Nashville. The rapper was the headliner for Vanderbilt University’s Commodore Quake concert, which also featured Passion Pit, B.o.B. and Playboy Tre. The mostly collegiate audience was well-behaved, as was the 39-year-old father of three. “How many of you was two when this song came out?” he polled the crowd. “How many of you was three? This one’s for you.”

Flanked by a trio of co-rappers, a DJ, drummer, bassist, and a giant body guard, Snoop unleashed hits like “Bow Wow Wow”, “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “Gin and Juice” and “Sensual Seduction.” He also covered House Of Pain’s “Jump Around” and gave love to Tupac.

The show, all synchronized hand gestures and pot references, was entertaining, if not transcendent. All that weed smoking might be getting to the Doggfather though, as he kept asking the crowd, “what’s my mother****** name?”
