Hold Steady Get Ready To Rock On 5th LP

Hold on to your hats, the Hold Steady are coming through. The verbally-gifted rock band’s 5th platter, Heaven Is Whenever, will be released May 4 on punk label Vagrant Records. The album was produced by Dean Baltulonis (who produced their classic 2005 disc Separation Sunday) and was recorded at Dreamland Recording Studios in West Hurley, New York, and Wild Arctic Studios in Queens.

Says guitarist Tad Kubler: “I really believe the album exposes new elements of the band that we hinted at on other records but weren’t able to fully realize until this one. Rather than just concentrate on changes in the instrumentation, we made changes to the song writing process.”

Singer and chief songwriter Craig Finn adds, “Heaven Is Whenever is about embracing suffering and understanding its place in a joyful life. The lyrics speak a lot about struggle and reward.”

The songs on the album were tested on the road, and often conceived and tweaked in a mobile recording studio the band set up on their tour bus.
