Joseph Satriani sued Coldplay in December 2008.

The copyright battle of the decade, pitting soft rock billionaires Coldplay against hard rocking guitar warrior Joseph Satriani has come to an abrupt end.

According to a Billboard report, Satriani and Coldplay have reached an undisclosed settlement outside of court. “While details of the case remain sealed, legal sources tell Billboard a financial settlement between the two parties may have been reached. Coldplay will not be required to admit to any wrongdoing.”

Last December, Satriani sued Coldplay, claiming the band’s new single, “Viva La Vida,” contained “substantial, original portions” of his 2004 instrumental track “If I Could Fly.”

Now the two parties can stop feuding and reunite for a power single. Kanye West can produce it, and Taylor Swift can rap on it.

Viva la musica.
