Those who log on to MTV.com during the MTV Video Music Awards on 9/13 will get a sneak peak at the indie rockers’ latest single, “Meet Me On The Equinox,” which appears on the Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack. New Moon is, of course, the sequel to the mega-popular Twilight vampire flick, featuring Robert Patterson and Kristen Stewart.

“Meet Me On The Equinox,” is the soundtrack’s lead single. All of the cuts on the album, due October 20, were either inspired by the film, or are exclusive to the soundtrack. Other artists rumored to be participating include Radiohead and Bon Iver.

The original Twilight soundtrack, featuring bands like Muse, Paramore, Linkin Park and Collective Soul, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts in 2008, and went on to sell 2.2 million copies.

That’s all well and good, but we’re more excited for Death Cab singer Ben Gibbard’s collaboration with Jay Farrar, a project in which they put compositions by Beat author Jack Kerouac to music. That album, dubbed One Fast Move or I’m Gone: Kerouac’s Big Sur, also drops October 20, and should be, like, totally groovy, man.
