Like many of her coevals, Tori Amos has chosen what was once the less beaten path, but what is now becoming the only path for those musicians who refuse to compromise their creativity and the authority over what’s rightfully their own.
In hopes of breaking out of the confines and inhibitions that come with being tied to a major music label, Amos has split with Epic Records and chosen to continue her career as an independent artist.
Amos has always been quite the creative type-but this time she will take it to another level-one that allows her to present her music to Tori-enthusiasts by taking advantage of a few innovative outlets.
Amos is preparing what her manager refers to as “a project of new music and visuals which is being started in the summer.” She’s also writing a musical for the British National Theatre titled “The Light Princess,” and-get this-releasing a graphic novel called “Comic Book Tattoo” that will illustrate her musical repertoire.
Amos’ next album is due in spring 2009 and is projected to reflect her new indie artifice.
