Country Music Television (CMT) announced plans for this season’s lineup at the Television Critics Tour in Los Angeles yesterday, 7/9. On the roster is a second season of hit series Gone Country hosted by John Rich, as well as a Christmas special entitled Larry the Cable Guy’s Star Studded Christmas Extravaganza, both to be taped in Nashville.

Gone Country, CMT’s highest rated series ever, will return with a brand new cast this season, each member of which will be vying for a chance at Nashville country success. Seven new cast members from various facets of the entertainment industry will learn the ins and outs of the country music business and take a shot at breaking into the genre. Cast members include singer, songwriter and actor Sebastian Bach; Academy Award winning singer Irene Cara; 2005 American Idol finalist Mikalah Gordon; Jackson 5 lead singer Jermaine Jackson; and producer and *NSYNC member Chris Kirkpatrick, to name a few.

Larry the Cable Guy’s Star Studded Christmas Extravaganza, will take the form of a one-hour special designed as a throwback to the old school holiday variety show. The Christmas Spectacular, the first of which aired last year on VH1, will host a lineup of guest stars including Toby Keith comedian Lewis Black, Fred Willard, comedian Victoria Jackson, ventriloquist Terry Fator, comedienne Victoria Jackson and entertainer Tony Orlando. In addition to comedy and sketches from Larry and the rest, the special will include musical performances from artists including Montgomery Gentry, among others to be announced.
The cast will “Git-R-Done” with a July 30th taping at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center, and the special will air in November on CMT.
