NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2016 — ASCAP, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, today announced that its 12th annual ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO will take place on April 13 – 15, 2017 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles. The premier conference for songwriters, composers, artists and producers in all music genres, ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO brings together aspiring and professional music creators to learn from some of the most successful and creative people in the music industry.
The ASCAP EXPO also unveiled a new logo and “Where Creators Connect” tagline, emphasizing the event’s focus on networking and the songwriting community. Registration for the 2017 event opens on September 13 with a special two-day sale offering advance access to special opportunities like the EXPO One-on-One Sessions and Lunch Roundtable workshops. Last year’s ASCAP EXPO kicked off with an electrifying ASCAP Annual Membership Meeting featuring performances from Grammy and ASCAP Founders Award-winning singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge, chart-topping “Cheerleader” songwriter OMI and the songwriting power trio of Chris DeStefano, Brett James & Priscilla Renea (Miranda Lambert & Carrie Underwood’s “Somethin’ Bad”). Other highlights included a keynote from super-producer Timbaland, plus master sessions with today’s top songwriters like Grammy-winning Rihanna ANTI co-writer James Fauntleroy; Ashley Gorley (Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Brad Paisley) and Greg Kurstin (Adele, Kelly Clarkson), among others. EXPO participants also heard exclusive insights and performances from Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley; songwriter and vocalist for the GRAMMY-winning group fun.
