Hiss Golden Messenger’s Heart Like A Levee Set For Release

Hiss Golden Messenger will release a sixth studio LP, Heart Like A Levee, on October 7 via Merge Records. This is the follow up to the 2014 release Lateness Of Dancers.

Heart Like A Levee is a collection of songs written by Hiss Golden Messenger creative director M.C. Taylor. Taylor drew on the close-knit community of musicians around his home in Durham, North Carolina to record the album.

In a statement, Taylor says of the record, “I wrote these songs during a time of transition and doubt. The process was raw, but also joyous. I spent a lot of time with these words and chords in all types of weather. In the end I learned more about myself making this record than any in the past, and that’s one important way for me to gauge whether an album was worth making.”
