Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) will host the industry-leading Song Camp 102 at Nashville’s Millennium Maxwell House Hotel next week, July 20-22. Songwriters of all levels “will have unparalleled access and critical training by some of the most successful writers in music,” according to a press release.

The camp is a stand-alone program, headed up this year by hit songwriters Jason Blume and Tim Johnson. The camp has a large and diverse faculty that will allow participants to choose from a menu of offerings, depending upon personal interest and preference of class subject. From melody, to publishing deal instruction, to rewriting, to the do’s and don’ts of music row, the camp will offer training in the tools and information needed for any aspiring songwriter.

Blume has songs recorded by the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, John Berry, and Steve Azar, while Johnson’s credits include songs by Darryl Singletary, Mark Chesnutt, Collin Raye and Diamond Rio. Other members of Song Camp 2008 faculty include Brent Baxter, Liz Hengber, Charley Stefl and Chuck Jones.

Baxter has had his name on cuts by Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, Lady Antebellum and John Pierce. Hengber has had cuts on albums for Reba McEntire, Andy Griggs and others, and is the author of The Do’s and Don’ts of Music Row.

Long story short, the Song Camp 102 is stacked. Interested participants may contact the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel at (615)259-4343 or Maxwell@mhrmail.com for a discounted Song Camp attendee rate.
