ARTIST: Jonathan Jackson + Enation
SONG: “Cinematic”
BIRTHDATE: Our album Radio Cinematic was birthed on October 14th, 2014
HOMETOWN: Grew up in Vancouver, WA, Portland, OR, and Burbank, CA.
CURRENT LOCATION: Nashville, TN
AMBITIONS: We’ve gone through just about every up and down a band can go through (minus incarcerations perhaps), so one thing we’ve landed on is to try and live in the moment, take things one day at a time, you know, and try to make the best music we can being true to our creative instincts. We’ve always thought of ourselves as a live band, so we’re always looking for ways to take our concert experience to the next level.
TURN-OFFS: Arrogance and pride.
TURN-ONS: Bands and artists who tear their heart out to express something.
DREAM GIG: Playing with U2, Pearl Jam, Coldplay, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen or Muse.
FAVORITE LYRIC: ‘We’re one, but we’re not the same…”
CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: Someone who shall remain unnamed. 🙂
SONG I WISH I WROTE: “She’s A Mystery to Me” performed by Roy Orbison, written by Bono and The Edge of U2.
5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Bono, Bob Dylan, Michael Stipe, Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Abraham Lincoln
MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: U2 360 was incredible. They played so many songs from Achtung Baby it was almost like being at Zoo TV.
I WROTE THIS SONG: It was near the end of the demoing process for our album. At first I thought it would be something we look at recording on our next album, but Richard (drummer) was adamant that we record it for this album. In some ways the song kind of explores a collision between a love story and our musical journey as a band.
