Popular Austin-based web series On-Airstreaming showcases up-and-coming acts in an unexpected venue – a vintage Airstream trailer. Artists from The Civil Wars to Dawes, Shakey Graves and more have performed unplugged sets for a small group of fans from the show’s unique location.
On this week’s episode, Australian folk-rockers Boy and Bear performed an acoustic version of their single “Southern Sun” from 2013’s Harlequin Dream. All five members of the group crammed into the Airstream and swapped the electric guitar for a mandolin and banjo, in a slowed-down version of the tune that showcased lead singer Dave Hosking’s soulful vocals. The band is currently touring North America and will perform at the Winnipeg Folk Festival July 12th and 13th, before heading to Europe this August. Check out an interview with Boy and Bear here and watch another stripped-down performance of “Three-Headed Woman.”
