ARTIST: Maggie McClure
SONG: Troubled Heart
BIRTHDATE: 8/28/86
HOMETOWN: Norman, OK
CURRENT LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
AMBITIONS: To encourage people with the music that I create and to make music with meaning for the rest of my life.
TURN-OFFS: negativity, smoking, swearing, arrogance.
TURN-ONS: manners, welcoming individuals, cookies, eye contact.
DREAM GIG: Any/all of the following venues: The Ryman Auditorium-Nashville, The Fillmore-San Francisco, Greek Theatre-Los Angeles, Hollywood Bowl-Los Angeles, Madison Square Garden-NYC
FAVORITE LYRIC: “Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue – And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.” – Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg / sung by Judy Garland
CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: Sometimes I think I’m pretty crazy myself for pursuing the unpredictable and insane life of a singer/songwriter/musician.
SONG I WISH I WROTE: “If I Ain’t Got You”, Alicia Keys.
5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Jesus Christ, My grandpa G.R. Woodrow who I never got the chance to meet, Bonnie Raitt, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson.
MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Sarah McLachlan in 2000 in Oklahoma City. I was so inspired by her performance, especially because she could barely talk between songs due to illness, but when she sang, her voice was flawless and angelic. That made such a profound impact on me at age 14.
I WROTE THIS SONG: Out of a place of feeling stuck, lost, overwhelmed, conflicted and confused as to which direction to pursue next in my life. There are times in life when you know deep down that a change must be made in order to move forward. This song is about dealing with drastic change that initially hurts, but you know it’s good for you in the long run.
