Earlier this summer, the Court Yard Hounds released Amelita, a sophomore album featuring two songs co-written by Tyler Lyle. Next month, Lyle will reclaim the spotlight with his own release, an EP that builds off the rootsy, West Coast pop/rock sound he introduced with 2011’s The Golden Age & The Silver Girl.

“Werewolf” is the first single from that EP, and we’ve got the whole song right here. Listen, howl at the moon whenever Lyle casually croons the F-word, and wait for September to hear the rest of this beast.

“I wrote this song after reflecting on how stories are told,” Lyle tells us. “In the western world, our stories need good guys and bad guys to move the plot along. However, this is not how the real world seems to me to be. If the protagonist was a kindhearted monster — not just a hero with a tragic flaw, but someone who embodied both extremes of good and bad — it would be a confusing story, but that’s the real story. That’s what I wanted to write about.”
