Greg Liszt knows how to party. The guy was part of Bruce Springsteen’s touring band for the Seeger Sessions, after all, and he logged a couple of years as Crooked Still’s banjo player. We have a feeling this dude has seen his share of backstage throwdowns.
Nowadays, Liszt is letting the good times roll as the chief songwriter of the Deadly Gentlemen, a rootsy five-piece with one foot in the old-timey past and another in the present. After recording most of their new album, Roll Me, Tumble Me, in a makeshift studio in Alabama, the boys are getting ready to release the record and hit the road again. If their aftershows are anything like the paint-splattered, confetti-covered bash depicted in the music video for “Bored of the Raging,” then we’re putting in our name for some backstage passes.
“Take it from me,” Liszt tells us. “If you ever find yourself getting tired of some never-ending party, grab a banjo and your four best friends and start jamming right away! We sincerely hope you enjoy this song, the first single from our new CD.”
