Dierks Bentley’s Feel That Fire opens with country-rock scorcher “Life on the Run.” Rapid-fire lyrics from “Life” (“Living life on the run/You can’t give your heart to no one/Your only friend is the setting sun”) serve as a fitting summation of Bentley’s signature brand of husky, drifter-inspired country.

Bowing self-penned lyrical content akin to hits “Every Mile A Memory” and “Free And Easy (Down the Road I Go)” on top of groove-oriented, guaranteed live-show pleasers, Bentley gives established fans another reason to ride shotgun. Twelve songs find the singer chasing skirts (“He She Comes, He We Go”), pleasing them (“Feel that Fire,” “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes”) or running in the opposite direction (“Life On The Run”). Bentley knows there are worse places to be than in perpetual motion.
