Take a listen to “Place In The Ground” from Memphis-based singer-songwriter Kait Lawson, whose new album, due later this year, features a who’s who of hometown indie rockers. A gorgeous tune draped in harmony and horns, it was inspired by a moment she’s been unable to forget.

“Place In The Ground” is a song about my Grandparents. At my Grandmother’s funeral, I had stayed behind the rest of my family as they finished the viewing, and found myself alone with my Grandfather as he was saying his final goodbyes. He did not know I was watching, and I heard him say to her I was supposed to leave first.’ Those words always stuck with me, and thirteen years later I wrote “Place In The Ground.”
