The Americana Music Association has issued its Top 100 Albums Of The Year list. The list tallies the amount of plays each record had on the Americana Airplay Chart from November 2011 to November 2012. The Americana Airplay Chart, a subsection of the Americana Music Association, represents terrestrial radio stations, nationally syndicated shows, satellite radio and internet stations.
JD McPherson tops the list with a total of 7,534 spins, just a finger’s reach above runner up Darrell Scott’s 7,532. McPherson is a singer-songwriter from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with a passion for 50’s blues and rockabilly music.
His debut album, Signs And Signifiers, was released in April. The video for the single “North Side Girl” has garnered more than a million hits on YouTube.
