Day of the Dead, the Grateful Dead tribute album compiled by brothers Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, is out today via 4AD. Benefitting the Red Hot Organization, a group dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS through pop culture, the album features 59 tracks and more than five hours of music. Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Lucinda Williams, Tallest Man on Earth, The National, Bela Fleck, The Lone Bellow, Local Natives and Mumford and Sons, among many others, cover Dead tracks in what Record Collector calls “the sweetest love letter to the Grateful Dead imaginable.” The Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir plays on “St. Stephen” and “I Know You Rider” with Wilco and The National, respectively.

The album is available for streaming here. The vinyl version of the compilation will become available September 9th and can be pre-ordered via the 4AD store beginning June 9th.
