While successful artists, including Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery, Craig Wayne Boyd, Jake Hoot, and Girl Named Tom, won The Voice, the series’ biggest stars never made it to the proverbial winner’s circle.
Here’s a list of sometimes chart-topping singers and songwriters you forgot competed on NBC’s popular reality competition.
Five Artists You Forgot Were on The Voice
Morgan Wallen: Even though Wallen didn’t attend the 2024 CMA Awards or acknowledge his Entertainer of the Year win, he’s still one of country music’s biggest stars. And he was a season 6 contestant on The Voice. The East Tennessee native auditioned with Howie Day’s “Collide” in 2014. He landed on Usher’s team before Adam Levine stole Wallen. The singer left the show after a version of Black Stone Cherry’s “Stay.”
Nicholle Galyon: Galyon might have been booted from The Voice during the Battle Rounds on Season 2, but her departure gave her more time to write her 10 No. 1 songs. Galyon’s hits include Miranda Lambert’s “Automatic” and Dan + Shay’s “Tequila” among others.
She released her debut album as an artist, “firstborn,” on July 22, 2022. Galyon founded her female-focused label and publishing house, Songs & Daughters, in 2019. Songs & Daughters includes artists Hailey Whitters, Lauren Watkins, and Emmi Elliott.
Gwen Sebastian: Country music fans first met Sebastian 12 years ago on The Voice, but she was eliminated in the Battle Rounds. She scored a No. 1 hit with Blake Shelton on “My Eyes” and is now Miranda Lambert’s best friend and rock-solid backing vocalist.
RaeLynn: RaeLynn was eliminated in the quarterfinals of Season 2 of The Voice, but that didn’t stop her from being a two-time ACM New Female Vocalist nominee. Her newest songs include “It’s Happening Right Here,” “Broken One,” “Somebody Else,” and “What’s Wrong With That.” She released a children’s book, “Raisin’ Me A Country Girl,” the namesake of her 2022 hit song. RaeLynn became the first country face of global beauty brand Too Faced. The Texan also made her acting debut in the Hallmark Channel’s “A Nashville Christmas Carol.” She has accumulated more than 1 billion career streams.
Meghan Linsey: Linsey made it to the finale episode in 2015, where she fell to teenage contestant Sawyer Fredericks, who was crowned the Season 8 champion. Linsey previously won CMT’s reality competition, Can You Duet? As part of the duo Steel Magnolia. She said her goal when she joined The Voice was to get a “second chance at being a solo artist.”I feel like I did what I set out to do, just to be going to the finale,” she said. “I feel like I’ve already won in a way.”
The Voice airs 8/7 c Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC.
