I get up at the crack of noon
There are times I even shave
I stumble out to meet the day
One day closer to the grave
These days I saunter more than run
Out of step with all my friends
Like an oak tree in a winter storm
I may sway but I won’t bend

I’m too old to change, too set in my ways
It’s the way I’m gonna stay for the rest of my days
There’s nothing in my life that I’d care to rearrange
I’m too old … too old to change

You can’t teach an old dog new tricks
You can try, see where it leads
All my vices are now habits
All my desires are now needs
These days I grumble right out loud
Out of touch with all that’s new
Older I get the better I was
More things change the less I do

I’m too old to change, too set in my ways
It’s the way I’m gonna stay for the rest of my days
There’s nothing in my life that I’d care to rearrange
I’m too old … too old to change

I’ve had ladies try and hold me
Tame me and control me
Mould me … into something that I’m not
I don’t give a damn
I am what i am
And I know … that’s not saying a lot

I’m too old to change, too set in my ways
It’s the way I’m gonna stay for the rest of my days
There’s nothing in my life that I’d care to rearrange
I’m too old … too old to change

I’m too old to change, too set in my ways
It’s the way I’m gonna stay for the rest of my days
There’s nothing in my life that I’d care to rearrange
I’m too old … too old
much too old to change
