There’s something so mysterious and interesting about unfinished or lost albums. Why were they shelved? Is there any evidence of those albums or leaks tucked away in the corners of the internet? These four unreleased albums, in particular, are quite intriguing. Let’s dive in, shall we?

1. ‘Disco Sweat’ by Carly Rae Jepsen
Following the mega-success of Carly Rae Jepsen’s 2015 album E•MO•TION, the pop star released her highly anticipated record Dedicated in 2019. However, she juggled a few different ideas in those years between albums, and some of those ideas manifested into a mostly complete album called Disco Sweat.
In an interview from years ago, Jepsen said that the album was inspired by Sweden and ABBA. However, according to Jepsen, the album “will probably never be released and shouldn’t.”

2. Speedy Ortiz’s Unreleased 2010s Album
Speedy Ortiz was going to release a very personal love album in 2016 and even talked about it to the press. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. When the US election happened, the band decided to switch things up and penn an album that was more relevant to the culture and political landscape at the time. They released Twerp Verse instead, and the unfinished album seems to have been shelved permanently.
3. ‘Up’ by Ultimate Painting
This British rock group was planning on releasing Up! in 2018. They got as far as promoting the album, too. Unfortunately, the band suddenly broke up that year, and Jack Cooper said it was due to an “irreconcilable breakdown” with fellow bandmate James Hoare. Up! was shelved for good, and fans were quite upset.
4. Lemmy Kilmister’s Unreleased 2010s Solo Album
Motörhead’s late Lemmy Kilmister had an album in the works around the time of his death in 2015. Allegedly, the solo record was going to feature the likes of Dave Grohl, Joan Jett, and more. In 2017, it was announced that Jim Voxx was working to complete the posthumous album; but nothing has happened quite yet.
