Sydney Sterlace dropped more than a few jaws when she announced her age to The Voice coaching panel. After absolutely slaying Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license,” during the season 26 Blind Auditions, the 15-year-old revealed that she wasn’t yet old enough to legally drive. Sterlace joined Gwen Stefani’s team after securing a coveted four-chair turn. Now, the Buffalo, New York teen is one of five artists set to vie for the season 26 crown starting Monday (Dec. 9.) Here are three quick facts about the “mini Kelly Clarkson.”

1. She Has Been Singing For Awhile
While she auditioned for The Voice before she could legally drive, Sydney Sterlace is no novice when it comes to singing. She began competing in local talent shows at age 7, taking first place in the Erie County Fair talent competition by age 10.
Sterlace shared a throwback photo from a past performance in a Sept. 16 social media post. “Who’s going to tell little me that her dreams are coming true??” she wrote in the caption.
2. Her Favorite Song As a Child Was “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”
As stated, Sydney Sterlace’s time in the spotlight began long before she auditioned for The Voice. She was just 3 years old when her mom decided to get her formal vocal training.
“My mom always tells me that she would listen to me sing, ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’ around the house,” Sterlace told Buffalo News in an October interview. “And she said, ‘Your voice sounds different than a regular little kid.’ She put me in singing lessons and I just haven’t stopped singing.”

3. Before ‘The Voice,’ She Covered Megan Moroney and Kelsea Ballerini
Sydney Sterlace has shown a preference for young female singer-songwriters during her time on The Voice, performing hits by Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. That preference extends to her social media, where she has posted covers by Adele and Kelsea Ballerini. Watch her perform Megan Moroney’s “28th of June” below.
“Girl you about to blow up you better get ready!” one TikTok user commented on footage of the performance. “Amazing simply amazing and only 15! Wow.”
