3 Quick Facts About ‘The Voice’ Finalist Shye

By tomorrow night (Tuesday, Dec. 10), The Voice will add another name to its list of champions. First-time coach Michael Bublé has two shots at the season 26 crown with Shye Roberts and Sofronio Vasquez. Shye attracted attention early on when her Blind Audition performance of Five for Fighting’s “Superman (It’s Not Easy) scored an elusive four-chair turn. Now, the 18-year-old New Yorker has a legitimate chance at the recording deal and $100,000 cash prize. Here are three things you should know about Shye as she battles Vasquez, Jeremy Beloate, Danny Joseph, and Sydney Sterlace for the season 26 title.

1. She Was Raised By Her Siblings

In 2010, Shye’s mother, Sheila Roberts-Creen, suffered a severe injury at work that exacerbated her scoliosis and led to multiple surgeries and extended hospital stays. As Roberts-Creen recovered, Shye’s siblings and other community members stepped up to help raise her.

Music became a point of connection for Shye and her mother, who recognized The Voice finalist’s innate abilities early on. “She was barely walking, but she could whistle,” Roberts-Creen told their hometown newspaper.

2. She Didn’t Show Up to ‘The Voice’ Empty Handed

Shye is into crystals, wearing a halite necklace daily to maintain balance and confidence. During her Blind Audition on The Voice, she even passed out a geode to each coach. The 18-year-old shared pictures of her choices in an Oct. 18 Instagram post, starting with pyrite for Snoop Dogg.

“(yes I gave him fools gold don’t start,)” she wrote.

3. She Missed Her High School Graduation To Audition

Shye is a 2024 graduate of Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. However, hers was not among the tassel caps celebratorily tossed into the air at the ceremony.

“I missed my high school graduation to be there,” Shye said ahead of The Voice season 26 Blind Auditions. “I saw a couple of videos, and I think that’s good. So, I think I made the right decision by coming here.”

We think so, too. Tune in to The Voice tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern on NBC to see if Shye takes it home for Team Bublé.
