And many times it’s the daughters of famed country singers who do just that, using their talents, voices, and keen insight to bring their perspective to the music.

Miley Cyrus
The daughter of country hitmaker Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, who rose to fame on the Disney channel show Hannah Montana, has since become one of the biggest pop stars in the world. But to pigeonhole her to the label of pop musician isn’t quite fair. She has a bold, raspy voice she can use to perform any style of music, and she has released songs that have garnered billions and billions of streams, including her latest hit, “Flowers,” which recently won a Grammy for Record of the Year. Indeed, she is a household name still with room to grow.
Rosanne Cash
Daughter of the Man in Black, Johnny Cash, and his first wife Vivian, Rosanne Cash was born on May 24, 1955, in Memphis, Tennessee. She’s grown up to become a star country artist, known for songs like “Seven Year Ache.” She’s released 14 studio albums, including her self-titled debut in 1978 and her most recent She Remembers Everything in 2018. She has also garnered a dozen Grammy nominations and a win in 1985 for her song “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me.” On top of that, she has garnered 11 No. 1 songs on the Billboard country music track. While few have ever rivaled Johnny Cash in the genre, Rosanne has done a good job coming close.
Ashley Campbell
The daughter of country icon Glen Campbell, who is known for songs like “Gentle on My Mind” and “Universal Soldier,” Ashley Campbell was born December 8, 1986, in Phoenix. She got her start playing banjo for her dad on his farewell tour in 2011. Since then, she’s started her own solo career after studying theater at Pepperdine University and even working as a comedian. She released her debut studio LP The Lonely One in 2018, and followed that up with Something Lovely in 2020. Her single “Remembering,” which is about her father’s struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease, was part of the Grammy Award-winning soundtrack of the 2015 documentary Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me.
