3 Carrie Underwood Songs That Will Satisfy Your Thirst for Revenge

1. “Church Bells”

In “Church Bells,” Underwood plays the part of a woman scorned. Underwood’s character seeks to get revenge on her abuser. Throughout the story, the titular character takes solace in her faith. In the end, she closes out her tale in a church for a twist of dark irony.

Jenny slipped something in his Tennessee whiskey
No law-man was ever gonna find
And how he died is still a mystery
But he hit a woman for the very last time

She could hear those church bells ringing, ringing
Standing there in a black dress singing, singing
Fold your hands and close your eyes
Yeah, it’s all gonna be alright
And just listen to the church bells ringing, ringing
Yeah, they’re ringing

2. “Two Black Cadillacs”

Underwood tells a gripping story of dual action revenge in “Two Black Cadillacs.” She removes herself from the narrative and takes an almost omniscient view. In this tale, a wife and a mistress team up to give their two-timing man the ultimate comeuppance.

Two months ago, his wife called the number on his phone
Turns out he’d been lying to both of them for oh so long
They decided then, he’d never get away with doing this to them
Two black Cadillacs waiting for the right time, right time

And the preacher said he was a good man
And his brother said he was a good friend
But the women in the two black veils didn’t bother to cry

3. “Before He Cheats” (Carrie Underwood)

Of course we couldn’t make a list of Underwood revenge songs and not include “Before He Cheats.” On top of this song being a staple in her discography, it’s one of the most easily recognizable revenge country songs ever. We’ve all wanted to enact our revenge via a little property damage. While not all of us have the nerve, listening to this Underwood song is a close second to that catharsis.

I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little souped up four-wheel drive
Carved my name into his leather seats
I took a Louisville Slugger to both headlights
Slashed a hole in all four tires
Maybe next time, he’ll think before he cheats
