I wandered through forgotten years
By rivers of the past.
The pale stars shed their silent tears
Like dew upon the grass.

A mist arose and I was lost,
I could not see the sun.
I knew not where the river went
Or where it had begun.

I knew not who I was, or why,
Or where my life would go.
I groped for hours blind as death
In darkness white as snow.

Then from afar I heard a cry,
I stumbled on ahead.
I hoped to find a reason why –
But saw the sea instead.

And there upon the shore I stood
And stared into the sea.
Till I grew bitter as the waves,
And wild, and cold, and free.

I wandered through forgotten years
By rivers of the past.
The pale stars shed their silent tears
Like dew upon the grass.
