As festival season approaches, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has become the latest event to announce its 2016 lineup. The festival–which will take place Apr. 22-24 and Apr. 24-May 1–features an eclectic lineup that includes headliners Stevie Wonder, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Neil Young and Promise of the Real.
The festival’s purpose is to celebrate the culture and heritage of New Orleans and Louisiana, but the lineup goes well-beyond the jazz music that the city is known for. With twelve stages at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans, fans will be able to see acts from a wide array of genres.
Rock ‘n’ roll has a big presence at the festival, with Steely Dan, Beck, Van Morrison, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, My Morning Jacket and Gary Clark Jr. all slotted to perform.
The festival will also showcase many big names in folk and Americana, including Paul Simon, Bonnie Raitt, Arlo Guthrie and Mavis Staples.
Hip hop fans can check out performances by Snoop Dogg, Flo Rida, J. Cole and Ms. Lauryn Hill.
Of course, the festival also showcases jazz music, with Trombone Shorty, Herbie Hancock & Wayne Shorter Duo and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band among others.
The full lineup and daily schedules can be found here. More information about the festival and ticketing can be found at www.nojazzfest.com and through Ticketmaster.
