A Publishing Deal can be that next step.
We’re excited to announce that leading music licensing, publishing and management company Secret Road has teamed up with music technology startup Songspace and world renowned instrument maker Martin Guitar to present the 2nd annual “Pub Deal,” a contest to win a one-year, $20,000 publishing contract, open to songwriters and artists of all genres.
In addition to taking home a non-recoupable $20,000 advance, the winning artist will work with Secret Road throughout the year to build their repertoire and market their songs for licensing in film and TV.
PRIZES: 25 finalists will be announced and featured on AmericanSongwriter.com. This group will be narrowed down to 5 who will be invited to participate in an exclusive audition process that includes interviews with Secret Road’s staff as well as co-writing sessions with their songwriters.
GRAND PRIZE:
- Publishing contract with LA-based Secret Road Music Publishing for one-year.
- $20,000 / year salary which is non-recoupable (meaning the salary won’t reduce any royalties you can earn).
- Signed to the roster of Secret Road, a music licensing, publishing, and management company that has placed songs in such highly rated television shows as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Parenthood,” and “Pretty Little Liars,” and in such films as “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” “Something Borrowed,” and “No Strings Attached.” Additionally, Secret Road artists have provided music for a wide range of brands, including or Coca-Cola, Chevrolet, Target and Google.

Entries are open to songwriters of all levels not currently under contract with any other publishers. Each songwriter or band must submit at least 3 songs and enter information about themselves through the contest platform to be eligible for entry.
The submissions period runs from Feb 27th – May 31st.
